LANified! 10: Location Change and Weekly Event Prizing

Well it's now about 2 weeks away from our event and there's plenty of things still going on.

First, our location has changed. Our coming event will now be situated on the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) campus in the Crandell building, rooms G138 and G140. Also the event is now Saturday and Sunday (Nov 5&6), starting at 10am on Saturday going till 6pm Sunday. The tournament schedule is being re-worked to these new dates and will be announced at a later date. With our new location the capacity has been adjusted to 60 people and our prizing has changed to reflect such. Unfortunately we can no longer offer a concession on-site, sorry folks. With the new location we will also be having an on-site security guard between 8pm Saturday and 8am Sunday, the security guard will also be checking any bags or equipment between Saturday Midnight and Sunday 8AM if you leave, this is to comply with our security policy and we will still be allowing entry of equipment but barring departure of equipment during these hours. This is for your security.

Second, as the event is 2 weeks away our prepay ends tomorrow (Friday) midnight! If you are coming out we recommend you prepay so that we can guarantee you a seat at our event. It's also cheaper. When you prepay don't forget to pledge for the tournament you want so even more prize money can be unlocked!

To sign up/prepay and for full event details head to: http://www.lanified.com/events/details/7

Third, we will now have prizing for our weekly events.

For Starcraft 2 we will be awarding $5 CAD for when a person gets 3 straight wins, this adds up too. So if you get 6 wins it's $10, and if you get 9 wins it's $15! This prizing will be for every single Starcraft 2 KotH week from here on out.

For Team Fortress 2 we will be awarding $15 CAD to the top performing team during a qualified week. Remember, only qualified teams can participate during our qualified weeks.

All prizing will be awarded via paypal, so make sure that you have your paypal account straightened out before you enter any of our events. Prizing will be distributed by BloodyIron and it is the responsibility of those who have won to keep contact with BloodyIron. If you have issues and need to contact BloodyIron outside of our events you can reach him at bloodyiron at shaw dot ca. It is the responsibility of entrants to keep track of their performance.

We hope you enjoy what we are putting on for you here, and if you have any questions, concerns or feedback we would appreciate you to voice it in our forums at http://www.lanified.com/forums .

To watch our events during the week or at our event just head to http://www.lanified.com/networks , we have an irc client built into the page as well as a calendar for our events!

Casual Challenges, Posters and Early-Bird

Wow, there sure is a lot going on. Not only did we see one of our fiercest ever matches during our TF2 KotH last night between qualified teams trashcan and AliasPro but we have many great things to announce too!

First and foremost, TRENDnet is sponsoring our event! TRENDnet makes all kinds of networking and IT equipment from personal devices all the way up to corporate networking infrastructure equipment! We are really excited to bring them on board, and they are helping us with our coming event. Thanks TRENDnet!

Second, we want to announce the first of our Casual Challenges for this event. From now until our event (closing time to be announced later) we are holding yet another flash game challenge. The person with the highest score for the flash game Red ( viewtopic.php?f=27&t=342 ) will earn themselves a TRENDnet TEW-687GA ( http://www.trendnet.com/products/prodde ... GA&cat=159 )! To enter a score you must take a screenshot of your entry score and post it in the forum thread. Please crop any entrant screenshots to only show the game. More Casual Challenges are to come.

Third, early-bird prepay ends tonight. To take advantage of the early-bird pricing you need to prepay before tonight (Friday) midnight MST. We also want to remind those who have (and will) prepaid to pledge for tournaments if you haven't already.

Fourth, for those who are missing it, we are still running our weekly gaming events! Wednesday is our Starcraft 2 1v1 King of the HIll event. Thursday is our Team Fortress 3v3 King of the Hill^2 event. All of these are broadcasted too, live! To watch, check the schedule, or hop on our irc head to http://www.lanified.com/networks and check it out! Next week will be our first qualified week for our Team Fortress 2 3v3 King of the Hill^2, so we should see incredibly fierce matches!

Finally, if you haven't had the pleasure of checking out our latest poster design, and you want to pass it around the office or school we have it right here! They are designed for 11"x17" landscape, but they work just nicely on 8.5"x11" landscape too. They were made by the lovely Sara Andisheh, she is always looking for more art work and can be reached at sara dot andisheh at gmail dot com .

Hope to see you at the LAN! :D

This week's TF2 KotH slight change

Hey Folks,

While our TF2 KotH^2 events have been quite popular, we still need more teams to get qualified. As it stands right now we only have 2 teams that have successfully qualified. As such we are adjusting this week from a qualified week to a qualifying week. If you have missed it next week will also be a qualifying week, so we hope to get at least 2 more qualified teams before our next qualified week, which is slated to be 2 weeks from this week.

Sorry if this is a bit confusing, and a bit of an inconvenience, but it's hardly entertaining or enjoyable by anyone for only 2 teams to battle it out for 3 hours.

Everything else is on-schedule, 7pm - 10pm MST will be the broadcast tonight, and head to our networks page to watch.

Calgary BarCraft, Minecraft, and our LAN, so much!
