Calgary Expo 2016: FAQ

Postby BloodyIron » Tue Apr 19, 2016 6:45 am

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions for what LANified! will be running at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo 2016:

Q:
Why are you using these formats? Other formats are more commonly used.
A:
LANified! designs tournaments and events in consideration of the audience. In the case of what we are doing at the Calgary Expo 2016, we took into consideration that we are providing limited notice, and that people will want to have limited commitment to the tournaments. As such, our experience demonstrates that these formats provide the best tournament experience, while balancing a limited commitment that people will have to said tournaments. Mainstream formats in most regards do not work for the Calgary Expo 2016. In the future this is likely to be revisited.

Q:
Are computers being provided for the tournaments?
A:
Yes. Also, you are welcome to bring your own peripherals, but peripherals will be provided too.

Q:
Do the LANified! tournaments at the Calgary Expo 2016 cost anything to enter?
A:
Entry to the tournaments are included in your Calgary Expo 2016 admission, for that day. For example, if you have a Calgary Expo 2016 ticket for Thursday, you are able to enter the Thursday tournaments. If you have tickets for multiple days, you can enter tournaments on those days too.

Q:
Can I watch the finals on Sunday?
A:
The tournament finals on Sunday will be open for spectating, and we will be broadcasting them in the same way as the other days (one tournament at a time, not all tournaments broadcasted). If you are at the Calgary Expo 2016 on the Sunday, come watch the action!

Q:
Is there any way to just enter the tournaments, without buying Calgary Expo 2016 admission?
A:
No. These tournaments are only open to those who have valid entry to the Calgary Expo 2016.

Q:
Do I need to form a team before hand?
A:
You are welcome to form a team in whatever way you see fit, as long as it conforms to the rules. If you need a team, we can help you form one. Or you can come with a team you formed before hand, it's up to you!
