Calgary Expo 2016: Tournament Rules and Format details

Tournament Stages:
Stage 1:
  • Participants will enter a King of the Hill series. Progress through this series will be tracked individually. Players that achieve top 2 in each match, based on score, will stay in as a King. Players that achieve lower than top 2 in a match will be eliminated and cannot re-enter this particular tournament (but may enter others).
  • Participants that reach 2 wins in a row will be awarded prizing
  • Participants that reach 3 wins in a row will be invited to Stage 2 Finals. We will take the first 6 participants that confirm attendance to the Stage 2 Finals, and participants invited after this will be placed on a backup list. Participants on the backup list may enter Stage 2 Finals if an earlier confirmed participant drops out of Stage 2 Finals for the same tournament.
  • Participants that reach 3 wins will then be dethroned for this particular tournament, to allow others to enter. These participants cannot re-enter this particular tournament.
  • Matches will be Best-Of-1 (bo1)
Stage 2:
  • Participants in this Stage will enter a 3-round series of matches (NOT Best-Of-3). The scores from each match will be tallied up together, to determine final ranking based on combined scores.
  • The first place participant will win prizes in addition to the Stage 1 prizing


Quake 3 specific rules:
  • Game time limit - 25:00
  • Third-party software relevant to the game is not allowed, this includes utility software
  • No fraglimit

  • q3dm6
  • q3tourney4
  • q3dm7
  • q3dm9
  • q3dm10


General Rules:
  • All matches will be 6-player Free-For-All (FFA) (or less, if needed)
  • Third-party textures/models/sounds are not allowed
  • Maps will be chosen at random by LANified! Tournament Administration from the pool of maps
  • Tournament systems will be provided, you are welcome to bring your own peripherals
  • Participants considered to be a poor sport, at the discretion of LANified! Tournament Administration, will be warned once. If they continue to be poor sports, they will be disqualified from the tournament, and not be allowed to re-enter that tournament.
  • Cheating in a tournament will result in immediate expulsion of the participant from the tournament. DO NOT CHEAT, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • If a game server experiences catastrophic failure, the particular game will be restarted on a new map. Incomplete scoring will not be kept.

  • Matches in Stage 2 will be Best-Of-1 (bo1), except the finals match, which will be Best-Of-3 (bo3)
  • Teams in this Stage will enter a Single Elimination series
  • The first place team will win prizes in addition to the Stage 1 prizes
  • Map selection will be agreed upon between teams


Starcraft 2 specific rules:
  • Gameplay Mode - Archon Mode
  • Game version - Legacy of the Void
  • Replays of all matches must be saved by players
  • Third-party software relevant to the game is not allowed, this includes utility software
  • Disconnects will be handled by the "recover game" functionality of replays. Should a game need to be recovered, it will be played at the latest time in the replay.

  • Orbital Shipyard
  • Prion Terraces
  • Ruins of Seras
  • Ulrena


General Rules:
  • All matches will be 2v2
  • Teams will consist of 2 players, no ringers, no bots, no coaches, no roster changes, no exceptions
  • All teams must declare only one Captain, who will represent and co-ordinate the team
  • All matches will be setup by LANified! Tournament Administration
  • Third-party textures/models/sounds are not allowed
  • Tournament systems will be provided, you are welcome to bring your own peripherals
  • Teams considered to be a poor sport, at the discretion of LANified! Tournament Administration, will be warned once. If they continue to be poor sports, their entire team will be disqualified from the tournament, and not be allowed to re-enter that tournament.
  • Cheating in a tournament will result in immediate expulsion of the entire team from the tournament. DO NOT CHEAT, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • If a game experiences catastrophic failure, the game will resume from a saved replay. If a saved replay is unavailable, a LANified! Tournament Administrator will make a judgement call. This may be a replay of the game, or a declaration of winner of the game.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive specific rules:
  • Gameplay Mode - Demolition
  • Round time limit - 1:30
  • Freeze time limit - 0:06
  • Bomb timer - 0:40
  • Match length - 20 rounds, teams swap sides after 10 rounds
  • Score limit - 11 team points wins the game (unless overtime occurs)
  • Third-party software relevant to the game is not allowed, this includes utility software
  • Pauses will be limited to 5 minutes maximum. If a team cannot participate past the 5 minute mark, they will forfeit the match.
  • STEAM player names must match the name used for tournament registration
  • In the event of a disconnect a pause may occur while the disconnected player reconnects to the game

  • Overtime will be first to 3 Overtime round points wins
  • Overtime will be played out until a winner is conclusively declared, even if this means multiple Overtime sets

  • Starting team sides will be determined by a coin-toss

  • ShortTrain
  • St.Marc

  • If there is no current King, starting sides will be chosen by LANified! Tournament Administration. If there is a King, starting sides will be chosen by the new challenging team.
  • Pauses will be limited to 5 minutes maximum. If a team cannot participate past the 5 minute mark, they will forfeit the match.
  • In the event of a disconnect a pause may occur while the disconnected player reconnects to the game
  • If a disconnected player cannot reconnect before the pause expires, the player may continue to attempt to reconnect but the match must continue unpaused
  • If the game experiences catastrophic failure, a LANified! Tournament Administrator will make a judgement call. This may be a replay of the game, or a declaration of winner of the game.
