- LANified!, our stuff
BloodyIron on Tue, April 17th, 2012 @ 8:51 pm.
There are things about LANified! which aren't always easily found. Some of which we have been meaning to add to our site for a very long time. Unfortunately there are usually other things which are higher priority, delaying such info from reaching our site.
To address this, we have created a new forum section dedicated to information we cannot place elsewhere on our site or services for one reason or another. Additionally we are trying to make such information easier to find, instead of just being arbitrarily located somewhere on our site. We invite you to check out our new information.
For a brief description of LANified!: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5177
For our current hosted services: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5176
For our contact information: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5175
We will be maintaining this section as needed, and if you would like to see more information in said section we would love to hear your ideas in the feedback forum: viewforum.php?f=20
- Barcraft, Minecraft, Starcraft, how crafty
BloodyIron on Tue, February 21st, 2012 @ 11:06 pm.
Greetings fellow gamers!
It's been a little while since you have heard from us, but rest assured we have not disappeared. If anything, we are returning with vigor!
First off, this coming weekend the next Barcraft Calgary event is going down, and LANified! will be there helping out. We will be there running a King of the Hill event, and as before there will be prizing. Details are not yet finalized, so check it out at the event! Unlike our other King of the Hill series we will not be broadcasting this one, however this is open to anyone who actually shows up! Last Barcraft we had over 40 people enter the KotH, and it was a total blast! We will be running the event on systems generously lent by The Node, a local internet cafe here in Calgary. There will also be other systems available for casual play, come get your game on, and check out what they have to offer!
When: 11:30 - 8ish, Sunday, Feb. 26th, 2012
Where: Ceili's Irish Pub Southland ( http://g.co/maps/dhw9p )
The Team Liquid thread is at: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=309859
If you enjoyed any of the previous Barcraft events that we were at, please show your support in the TL thread!
Second off, we continue to develop Alberta's Best Minecraft Server! Today, we bring you a map of the whole world. This map is updated daily, and features all the hard work people have done (in the normal world)! You can browse it deliciously at: http://map.lanified.com
Feel free to come join us on the server, just connect to mine.lanified.com and have fun! We only have a few rules, and mostly they are don't steal other people's stuff, don't destroy other people's stuff, don't build on or in other people's space, take what you need from central storage, give what you can to central storage, and try not to destroy the server!
Third off, we would like to remind you all that we are still running our weekly Starcraft 2 King of the Hill events. If you missed it, we still have prizing! For every 3 wins in a row a king earns, they take home $15! This event runs every Wednesday from 7pm to 10pm MST, and it's broadcasted LIVE at http://tv.lanified.com . Competition is getting mighty fierce, and we are seeing some incredible talent. So come check it out!
Full event details can be found in our Team Liquid thread at: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=277644
LANified! is continually working to provide you with high quality events that are exciting, fun and rewarding. If you would like to keep up with us you can follow us on http://facebook.lanified.com . - Our Minecraft server and weekly broadcasting updates
BloodyIron on Thu, December 15th, 2011 @ 6:19 am.
For about 1.5 years now LANified! has been running one of the finest Minecraft servers around. We have seen players come and go, and plenty of our share of adventures. We have even seen our share of hardships. Recently our server experienced grief from a very selfish player who has since been banned.
In response to these unfortunate acts we have taken different steps. Initially we rolled back to our last manual backup, which was made on December 1st. Unfortunately a significant amount of work was lost due to the sheer gap in time since the backup. Since then we have been working hard to deal further with the situation. We believe we are now at a point in which we can safely say we are Alberta's Best Minecraft Server. Why? Well for starters we recovered the majority of the work lost, and repaired the damage done as best as we can. We feel confident that those who enjoy our server will be extremely pleased with the outcome of these repairs.
Secondly, we now have a completely automated backup service which rivals corporate backup solutions. It consists of a "staggered" series of backups. It may be a bit confusing at first, but we are confident it will add so much redundancy to our world files that griefing will no longer be a concern whatsoever.
Here's how it works:
- Every backup will occur at 5am MST
- Every day of the week will produce a backup and this will go back 7 days, so tomorrow will over-write last week's backup of the same day of the week
- An additional "weekly" backup will occur on the following days of the months: 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd. Each will represent week 1,2,3 and 4 of the Month. Week 5 will not have a backup. When a new Month occurs, each week will overwrite last month's equivalent week.
- An additional "monthly" backup will occur on the 1st of every month, and this will go back 12 months, overwriting the corresponding month of last year.
What's the best part? It's already working! Unknown to our valued gamers is that this service has been running for 2 days now! Due to the nature of this backup system it is not reliant on plugins, or versions of the server whatsoever. As such, it will always happen, executes in less than a minute, and is completely transparant to players. If anything happens to our precious server we can revert back to yesterday's backup at the drop of a hat. If anything happens to that backup we have lots of other backups to fall back on!
There are many great things that have been accomplished on our lovely server, here are some examples:

We run this server as a public service, for you. If you want to join us, add us to your favourites and connect to mine.lanified.com and be sure not to build on or destroy other people's space/constructions. This is a communal server, and we would love it if you joined us. If you want to chat while playing you can also jump on our mumble server, add it to your favourites: voice.lanified.com (default port).
The future of our Minecraft server is bright, and with time we will offer more services where we see fit. We really hope you enjoy your stay and if you have any issues just let us know and we'll do what we can to help you. There are limits to what we can/will do, but we will do our best.
In other news, we have our weekly Broadcasting. Today unfortunately we were unable to have our commentators present and as such we had to cancel our Starcraft 2 King of the Hill event. For the next few weeks we will be taking a break from our Starcraft 2 King of the Hill event, and enjoy our holidays. When it will return is not certain, but we plan to come back fiercely in the new year.
As for our Thursday Team Fortress 2 King of the Hill^2 events... this weekly event is cancelled permanently until further notice. We do not plan to bring this back at this time as we have seen a steady decline in popularity, and these events take a lot of effort to put on. Initially we saw a fair bit of interest, but unfortunately it grew, and then continued to decline. It is unfortunate that our recent injecetion of prize money was not sufficent to provide a second wind for this event series, and as such we are taking down the Thursday time-slot for retooling. It is not yet certain if we wikll return with a new program in the new year for this timeslot, but it is possible. We hope you enjoyed this event, and will enjoy our other events in the mean time.
The cancellation of this event does not affect LAN party tournament design.

- Weekly event prizing, and LANified! 10: pics
BloodyIron on Tue, November 29th, 2011 @ 6:25 am.
Time moves on, and with it we must move also.
Starting this week we will be adjusting some of our weekly formats, and the prizing for each. They are as follows:
EVERY Wednesday, Starcraft 2 1v1 King of the Hill, 7pm - 10pm MST:
Our format for this event will remain the shame. What is changing is that for every 3 wins in a row you will now win $15 CAD. All prizing is done through paypal.
EVERY Thursday, Team Fortress 2 3v3 King of the Hill^2, 7pm - 10pm MST:
Our format is changing in that we will no longer have a qualified and qualifying status. Going forward every single week will be open to the general public. At this time we did not see enough interest in qualified status, dispite the cash prizing, for it to be worthwhile. Furthermore, there will be prizing every week now. For every 3 wins in a row your team will win $15 CAD. Roster changes are disallowed completely, if someone needs to be replaced the counter will be reset. This is not negotiable, get your teams ready in advance please. All prizing is done through paypal.
To watch our weekly events just head to the networks page, or go to http://www.lanified.com/networks . To enter our Team Fortress 2 events jump on the IRC client built into the networks page. To enter our Starcraft 2 events jump in the channel "LANified!" and say you want to enter.
As most of you know, we recently held LANified! 10: Additional Pylons. As such, we have assembled the finest pictures known to man for this event, and grouped them in a tidy central storage location. You do not need to log in to see them: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 861&type=3
For those who attended, we would appreciate if you left feedback both good and/or bad in our thread for LANified! 10: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=811 So if you haven't already left feedback, please do.
Feedback helps us address the issues that are important to you, our valued attendees. Additionally, if you are curious about our events, you can check out our feedback section to see what people had to say about our events.
LANified! recently ran the King of the Hill event at the BarCraft that was held at Ceili's. If you weren't able to make it, we put together a walk through of the event early on in the day, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CatxLMMTcFA
LANified! is continually working on bringing you interesting events, so if you want to keep up with what's going on you can follow us on facebook, at http://facebook.lanified.com , or if you haven't already, make an account on our site and that will enroll you into our mailing lists. - Minecraft reversion
BloodyIron on Wed, November 16th, 2011 @ 9:07 pm.
Hey Dudes and Dudettes,
We've been trying to deal with recent Minecraft server issues for the last few weeks. We're sorry that it has been garbage the whole time.
We will be reverting to a known good backup made on Nov 3 2011. I know this will revert a lot of work you folks have done, and we truly are sorry. It is not yet certain if this will resolve the issues we have been seeing but this backup was made when the server was known to be stable by multiple reports.
We do not yet have a conclusive cause of these problems, but we highly suspect people dropping large quantities of experience when dying. We have seen problems around this in the past, so please avoid dealing with experience as much as possible. If you suspect you are bloated with experience, please drop everything in your inventory in the nearest chest and jump into lava. This is no exaggeration, you need to nuke yourself and all the experience on you. It is not yet certain if the experience woes will be resolved in 1.9, but it is highly likely.
We appreciate your patience in this time, and welcome you to rejoin us on our lovely Minecraft server when this junk is resolved.
